To the best of my abilities I’ve begun the possibly feeble attempt of re-motivating myself to begin a story. After reading several tips on the glorious interwebs I have taken some of the steps to gaining motivation. Perhaps this will lead to more disappointment in myself or I may by chance achieve my long lost goal. Though my own self doubt is understandably part of my folly, I must break these heavy shackles and lift myself past my own lacking to acquire my greatest goal.
I have been in this debilitating slump for far too long and I must say that I WILL WRITE SOMETHING DAMMIT! Though I am working on my mythos foremost I know that beginning is the hardest step, and I will overcome it. I will aspire to greater heights!
Lazy me
Ok, so I’m guilty of being lazy as hell my entire life and I keep saying I’ll change and I’ll get it done but then I do nothing, I dont change, and now I feel like I really hate that. I think I’m going to pick another project TODAY or cry trying.
Projects in the Works
So I’ve decided that perhaps I should place a pause on the GProject until I feel more motivated. However I have picked up several other projects including a comic collaboration with a friend of mine who is a wonderful artist, she will be the head artist, and I her assistant, while the story is by the two of us as well. This project has a temporary title so hopefully we’ll have a more substantial one in due time. Fair warning it is male love comic so it may not appeal to everyone but we plan to make it as authentic and realistic as possible.
Amongst other things I must get back to my fanfictions as I’ve neglected all of them for too long. Anyone who desires a link to these works may request at their leisure. I plan to start another project in place of the GProject in due course, though schedule as of late has been rather busy. The GProject is NOT dead simple on hold none of my projects shall EVER die as they are all my wonderful children. Though I must pick a tale that I feel most motivated toward writing now rather than later which can be somewhat difficult.
Thank you the very few who follow my Blog. Hugs and Kisses,
K.
Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.
Hmmmm
Made some progress with the GProject this past week or so, not as much as I would like, but I’m busy with other things as well. One is poem that comes in 4 to 5 parts about a man and the horrific events he faces at his brother’s house. Another project is a comic I’m working solo then there are a few comics I’m working in collaboration with others on. I also have my art projects for school. So as you can see I’ve got a lot of spaghetti on plate and really can’t eat it all at once.
K
Hello world or at least the few people that actually follow this blog. I’ve decided to talk about why I want you to know me as K.
K is such random letter isn’t it? I didn’t choose it because it’s the first letter in my name, that’s just silly, nope I chose K because of the words I like that start with K.
Knowledge, Knight, Kingdom, King, Key, Karma, Keeper, Kindness, Kick, Kilt, Kimono, Kaleidoscope, Kansas, Kappa, Karaoke, Karate, KO, Kidney, Kerosene, Kilobyte, Knock, Knock-out, Know, Known, Knuckle, Knife, Korea, Kraken, Kudos, Kung-Fu, Kyoto, Koala…
Ok so some of those words make me sound like serial killer or a completely insane idiot who wasn’t thinking when they made this (which I full heartedly agree with). However it’s not totally random. I’m only telling you the bare minimum but, K is actually a character in one of my series to come someday. K naturally uses the letter as username on the computer so I thought why not. Also I want to remain as gender ambiguous as possible, I could have just used a unisex name but that’s boring and I would have to stick with it for a time. So for now K it is for me.
Gods and Men
I’ve been sick for the past few days thus having spent the time wondering what I should talk about next since I’ve only made so much (very little) progress this week on the GProject, and I decided that a good subject would be God Modding and why people should never do it ever.
So what is God Modding? Well it’s more of slang term for a normally non-godly character or creature that manages to defy the laws of nature, physics, and logic and practically do anything without limits or boundaries. In Role-playing examples include not being able to be harmed by others or excessively avoiding injury from other RP characters, surviving normally fatal wounds without expressed explanation from other RP characters, being able to kill other RP characters without permission, or overall superiority over anyone in RP sometimes through down play of other characters forcing them to go out of character (OOC).
Look it up on Urban Dictionary kids. This happens in RP (role-plays) all the time and royally pisses me and other people off, and sadly enough it doesn’t just happen in RPs, nope it happens every where, TV shows, movies, video-games, books. Haven’t you ever wondered how this one character manages to do so many things under impossible odds, conveniently knowing things that keep them alive, and in the end all they have is a little scratch and a bit of dirt on their boots? I honestly have many times and it ruins the experience for me, sure I’m sad if my favorite character dies but then that moment is etched into my heart forever rather than leaving me mentally wondering how the hell did they survive that.
Avoid God Modding whether it’s in a book or an RP. Only gods should have the powers of a god and even then they can die even Superman had his Kryptonite. Apart of a character that makes them unique are their flaws, their weaknesses, and their sick days. It doesn’t even have to be a physical injury it can be a mental one, there are so many ways to avoid making your characters too powerful for their own good.
Names and Why I Find Them Important
Naming characters and places can sometimes be easy and other times not so much. A character’s name once published sticks with them for life so it has to be something that isn’t completely dull or common, and (though this doesn’t always have to be the case) have a form of meaning behind it. Names are what identify people, places, and things in general so when naming a character it should suit them in one way or another or have a story behind it. For example “They call me Picks because blah blah blah blah…” of course this may apply to nicknames and titles namely. If you name a character sometimes it’s best to go with something catchy like the famous Sherlock Holmes. Others might like to have a name that has a special meaning that identifies with the character, like a character that’s sly and cunning may have a name like Renard which means fox. Remember also the ethnicity and home of the character as well, if you have a Japanese character living in Japan give them a Japanese name. For mythical characters such as elves and demons I suggest a name with a relating origin of sorts, Celtic mythology and Welsh names for elves, biblical and other mythos for demons however this doesn’t have to be the case if they are in a more modern setting. If all else fails look to those who inspire you, the people you love, someone who’s helped you, or even a person you hate, and perhaps name your character in honor of them, of course don’t use their full name, but a piece or a possible variation of the name. And example would be Catherine, Katherine, Katheryn, Katie, Kat, Cat, Cathy, and so on.
I hope this helps other young writers like me. I personally like to learn the meaning of names or their origins, but that’s just me. Since I’ve created a completely different universe for my stories it can be hard to choose names that fit, but in the end it’s all worth it. Good Luck!
Organizing
The story behind my current project was conceived during my freshman year of high school in a boring history classroom when I wasn’t paying attention to our teacher’s lecture and completely consumed with boredom. I created characters, a setting, a plot, antagonists, but not much else happened with the project. For years I did nothing with anything, allowing my pile of stories and ideas to pile up half-hazardly inside my mind. It was only last year that I actually started to try and organize everything. I listed my stories jotting down more every once in awhile as they came back to me. I began to summarize each story in a binder, highlighting which ones were series, comics, a single novel, and other things such as collections of poetry or plays. Since then the list of summaries had filled a 22page word document and the funny thing is its still nowhere close to being done. I kept adding new stories to the list as I went along, the past two years being the most productive in conceiving story ideas.
I made a silly little (gigantic) board of envelopes to place little notes of info about my stories in, character profiles, chapters, summaries, and other things. It’s kind of cute mostly tacky and a complete waste of time though since I mostly use my computer file and it’s too big to cart around. I just thought you all should know how weird I can be when I try to organize my crap.
